What information you should know before researching?

To make a search for your ancestors easier there are some basic things you should know before you go to the historical records in holdings.

  • The name of the person/s
  • The year in which they were born or died
  • The year they arrived
  • The name of the ship on which they arrived (optional)
  • Was your ancestor a prominent member of the society, for example a Mayor?
  • Did they work for the government?
  • Did they own land and when?
